Every day at 11 a.m., a dazzling car drives through the center of Central Park in New York City. Inside, besides the driver, sits a well-known millionaire.
The millionaire noticed that every morning, a ragged man sat on a park bench, staring intently at the luxury hotel where he lived. One day, intrigued by this man, the millionaire had his driver stop the car and approached him, saying, "Excuse me, I can't understand why you stare at the hotel I live in every morning."
"Sir," the poor man replied, "I have no money, no home, and no house. I have to sleep on this bench. However, every night I dream that I am staying in that hotel."
Finding this amusing, the millionaire said to him, "Tonight, I will make your wish come true. I have booked a room for you at the hotel and paid for one month's stay."
A few days later, the millionaire passed by the hotel suite where the man was staying, intending to ask how he was doing. Instead, he found that the man had moved out and returned to the park bench.
When the millionaire approached him in the park and asked why he had done so, the man explained, "When I sleep on the bench, I dream that I am sleeping in that luxurious hotel, which is wonderful. But when I sleep in the hotel, I dream that I am back on the cold bench. That dream is so terrifying that it completely ruins my sleep!"
