Why do some people achieve greater success, earn more money, and hold better jobs, while others remain busy working just to make ends meet? In reality, there is not much difference between people.
Research by many psychological experts reveals that the secret lies in one's 'mindset.' As a philosopher said, 'Your mindset is your true master.' A great man stated, 'Either you master your life, or your life masters you. Your mindset determines who is the rider and who is the horse.'
About 40 years ago, in a poor village in Fujian, there lived two brothers. Unable to endure the poverty, they decided to leave their hometown to seek opportunities overseas. The elder brother seemed luckier, being sold to the affluent San Francisco, while the younger brother was sold to the Philippines, which was even poorer than China at the time.
Forty years later, the two brothers luckily reunited. They had changed dramatically. The elder brother became a leader in the Chinese community in San Francisco, owning two restaurants, two laundries, and a grocery store. He had a large family, with some children inheriting the business and others becoming outstanding engineers and other technical professionals.
What about the younger brother? He surprisingly became a world-renowned banker, owning significant timberlands, rubber plantations, and banks in Southeast Asia. After decades of hard work, both had succeeded. But why was there such a difference in their career achievements?
The elder brother explained, 'When we Chinese entered white society, since we didn't have any special talents, we had no choice but to use our hands to cook for the whites and wash their clothes. In short, we took on all the jobs that the whites refused to do. Life was fine, but we didn't dare to aspire to great careers. For example, my descendants, although they studied a lot, didn't dare to dream big; they only settled for mid-level technical jobs to make a living.'
Seeing his brother's success, the elder brother couldn't help but envy his younger brother's luck. However, the younger brother said, 'There was no luck. When I first arrived in the Philippines, I did lowly jobs, but I noticed that some local people were somewhat lazy. So I took over the businesses they abandoned, gradually acquiring and expanding, which allowed my business to grow steadily.'
This is the true history of the struggle of overseas Chinese. It tells us: environment is not the only factor influencing our lives; mindset controls individual actions and thoughts. At the same time, mindset also determines one's vision, career, and achievements.
Whether a person can succeed depends on their mindset. The difference between successful people and failures is: successful people always use the most positive thinking, the most optimistic spirit, and the most brilliant experiences to dominate and control their lives. Failures, on the contrary, are guided and dominated by past failures and doubts.
