A dog was very thirsty. It saw only a few empty pails, containing no water. The dog continued its search for water and arrived at a small house. There was a girl inside. The girl came out carrying a pail. "She is going to the well," the dog thought, and followed her. The dog was right. The girl reached the well, lowered the pail, filled it with water, and then returned home.
"Water! Great!" said the dog, rushing toward the well. Without a second thought, it jumped in.
The water was delicious. The dog was happy and drank plenty. However, it could not jump out of the well. It waited and waited, but no one came. "I am hungry now. I must get out," it thought.
At that moment, a thirsty goat came to the well. It looked at the water and the dog. "Is the water good?" asked the goat. "Of course. Come down," said the dog. So, the goat also jumped into the well. The dog was delighted. It jumped onto the goat's back and leaped out of the well.
The dog glanced at the goat, said, "Goodbye!" and then left.
