In the Jin Dynasty, there was a general named Zu Ti. With exceptional military strategy and loyal patriotism, he was a highly respected figure.
However, as a child, Zu Ti was mischievous. He disliked studying martial arts or reading, preferring to play all day long.
After growing up, Zu Ti witnessed the decline of the nation and the increasing hardship of the people. At that time, though, he was weak and lacked knowledge, making him powerless to help.
Determined to change the country's plight, Zu Ti began to study diligently, acquiring vast knowledge from books. He also frequently traveled to the capital, Luoyang, to consult with scholars. People recognized him and remarked, "Zu Ti will be the backbone of the nation in the future."
When Zu Ti was 24, he was recommended for an official position, but feeling his knowledge was insufficient, he declined and continued his studies. His close friend, Liu Kun, shared his aspirations to end the war, strengthen the country, and improve people's lives. Whenever they discussed state affairs, the conversation would often last until the deep night, forcing them to sleep on the same bed.
The next morning, they would practice swordsmanship together, preparing themselves to serve the motherland in the future.
One night, Zu Ti was woken by the crowing of a rooster. He turned to Liu Kun and said, "The rooster is telling us to get up. This is the perfect time to practice our swords." Liu Kun readily agreed.
From then on, Zu Ti and Liu Kun made a pact to rise and practice whenever the rooster crowed. Regardless of heat, cold, rain, or shine, they never interrupted this routine. Through consistent hard work, they eventually became accomplished in both civil and military arts.
This story teaches us that success is only possible through unremitting effort. Let us learn from Zu Ti and Liu Kun!】
